Brock Lesnar To Defend WWE Universal Title Against UFC Champion?

Following his victory over Derrick Lewis at UFC 230 in Madison Square Garden, Daniel Cormier delivered a wrestling-style promo calling out new WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar.

Cormier said:

“Brock Lesnar! When you come, bring that brand new WWE title too. I feel like being a WWE champion too. Let’s go! Let’s go, Brock! Bring that belt with you if you come to my house.”

A fight between Lesnar and Cormier has been in the works for months, since Cormier won the UFC Heavyweight title at UFC 226 and the pair engaged in a heated confrontation after the bout.

Lesnar has been rumoured for a UFC return since before WrestleMania 34, although when a fight can be put together between them is anyone’s guess now that Brock has commitments as Universal champ in WWE.

Brock has at least two dates left on his new WWE deal, the first being Survivor Series. It seems a given that he would also be at WrestleMania 35 but he could well finish up at Royal Rumble if he plans to fight after that, as he will need time to train.

Cormier too has limited time remaining if he is to be believed, as he claims he wants to retire by his 40th birthday, which is in March, before WrestleMania 35.

Is there a chance Cormier and Lesnar could meet in a WWE ring rather than in UFC’s Octagon? It seems fanciful but is not impossible, especially given WWE’s recent reported interest in Cormier in advance of their move to FOX.
