Brodie Lee On Vince McMahon Comparisons: ‘I Didn’t Like It, I Didn’t Want It’

When Brodie Lee debuted in All Elite Wrestling, many drew comparisons between him and Vince McMahon. Although they were denied, it was impossible to believe that Lee’s character wasn’t an intentional parody of McMahon.

Many of his mannerisms were famous McMahon quirks, such as hating when other people sneeze. However, now that months have gone by, Lee has become a character all his own.

Now, Lee has opened up about how he felt about the comparisons and the decision to move the character in another direction. During his upcoming appearance on AEW Unrestricted, Lee revealed he didn’t like the comparisons and didn’t want them. Here is the quote, courtesy of Digital Spy:

“Once I wore that first suit it felt good but it didn’t feel completely right. The Vince McMahon comparisons flew.

That’s all people talked about the first three to four weeks of my AEW career, and that became, I think, detrimental to me and I didn’t like it, I didn’t want it.

So I tried to get away from the stuff that they were saying so as opposed to a multi-coloured suit, I now went with a full suit tailored to me that I don’t think looks like a Vince McMahon or anybody else.

And once I did that red one I was like, I’m sold, this is my bi-monthly routine now is to go get a suit made, and I love it.”

Since his debut, Brodie Lee has only lost two matches. The first was to Jon Moxley at Double or Nothing for the AEW World Championship and the second was his recent Dog Collar match against Cody for the TNT Championship.
