Brody King has addressed the future of his tag team with Buddy Matthews after winning the AEW World Tag Team Titles with Bandido at Forbidden Door 2025.
In what was the only title change of the night, Brodido ended the 214 day reign of The Hurt Syndicate by defeating FTR in last night’s AEW World Tag Team Title three-way match.
During the post show media scrum, Brody King and Bandido appeared alongside AEW President Tony Khan and were asked questions about their partnership and title win, one of which was regarding the status of King’s Hounds of Hell teammate Buddy Matthews and their future as a pairing now that Brodido are solidified as a team.
Asked whether there was going to be any “awkward conversations” coming up with Matthews when he makes his return from his ankle injury, King said:
“I hope that Buddy is at home healing and he is happy for me. When the time comes and he comes back, we always have the trios titles.
“But I will say right that two AEW homegrown guys are Tag Team Champions again and hopefully it stays that way for a while.”

While King and Bandido’s partnership only recently formed on AEW TV, King revealed that the pair have actually been close friends long before they came to AEW.
Matthews suffered an ankle injury during his match with Kazuchika Okada at AEW Grand Slam Australia in February.
It’s currently unclear when Matthews will make his AEW return as the Australian star only recently underwent surgery earlier this month, announcing the news on social media alongside his wife Rhea Ripley.
