Ahead of WWE Backlash, Charlotte Flair has shared her praise of Trick Williams and Bron Breakker as future breakout stars.

With WWE Backlash taking place on May 9, Bron Breakker is set to face Seth Rollins, while Trick Williams will defend his United States Championship against Sami Zayn.

Looking ahead of the WWE Premium Live Event, Charlotte Flair recently praised Trick Williams and Bron Breakker as future breakout stars during an appearance on ESPN SportsCenter, being asked who the fans should focus on, saying:

“In my opinion, the first one would be Trick Williams: his entrance, you can see everyone standing, the fans are already connecting with him, the charisma, the size. He just looks like a stud, an athlete, I mean look at him

“Then, a little biased, Bron Breakker, given that he’s a second-generation talent. He was out on injury. When he came back, he definitely made an impact at WrestleMania. And, facing Seth, who is one of, you know, the greats of my generation.

“I definitely think those two, Trick Williams and Bron Breakker, are breakout stars in the next couple of years.”

Having defeated Sami Zayn for the WWE United States Championship at WrestleMania 42 on April 19, Williams will face the former champion once again on Saturday.

Breakker has also ramped up the intensity, sharing a message after his return from injury at WrestleMania 42, and unleashing a brutal attack on Seth Rollins last night on WWE Raw.

Getting The Rub From A Veteran Star

A veteran star being asked to name the “ones to watch” isn’t an unusual thing when it comes to interviews. It allows said star to take a look at the makeup of the current roster and share their thoughts on names who have stood out to them.

It isn’t a guarantee of success, of course, but considering how many names stepped up from NXT over the years and are carving their own niche on the main roster, Flair named Breakker and Williams as her two picks at Backlash is a testament to the work that they have done.

Breakker, in particular, has seen his star shine even brighter, having been called up from NXT in February 2024 and finding himself pretty much rapidly inserted into an Intercontinental Championship program with Sami Zayn, a title that the son of Rick Steiner has now held two times.

A member of The Vision, Breakker has proven time and again that he’s far from just a wrecking ball, delivering some intense promo work and seeing his microphone skills develop with ample assistance from Paul Heyman. Injury may have robbed Breakker of his television time this year, but a strong return at WrestleMania 42 is likely to lead to bigger opportunities for the star.

The same can be said of Trick Williams, who was called up in January of this year and went after Sami Zayn, leading to their match at WrestleMania 42 and the victory that would see the two-time NXT Champion claim his first main roster title.

With Roman Reigns having named Williams, alongside Oba Femi, Je’Von Evans and Carmelo Hayes, as stars The OTC would like to face, there’s clearly a bright future for all the names mentioned, and potential new challenges for the current World Heavyweight Champion.

Williams bears all the hallmarks that Flair describes – charisma, appearance and fan connection – setting him up for a run at the top of the roster when the opportunity presents itself.

Being recognized as potential top stars by veterans, wherever the comments are coming from, is a strong indicator that Williams and Breakker are doing something right, and long may it last.
