Speaking on the Something To Wrestle With podcast, current head of WWE Creative Bruce Prichard has given his thoughts on the way in which Kurt Angle left WWE for TNA back in August 2006.
Angle claimed that he asked to leave WWE that summer because he couldn’t take any time off and was working hurt. He debuted for IMPACT Wrestling (then TNA) the following month.
Speaking about the manner in which Angle left WWE for the first time in 2006, Prichard had the following to say:
“Well, it also wasn’t cool the way that Kurt left the company at the time either. So, I’m not saying two wrongs make a right, but the way that Kurt left was not cool as well and I’m not a big fan of that. I’m not a big fan of doing that, but sometimes, it happens. I think that probably showing up on TNA fueled that fire.”
Kurt Angle would not return to WWE until 2017 when the former World Heavyweight and WWE Champion was inducted into the Hall of Fame and appointed Raw General Manager the following night.
