Brutus Beefcake Confirmed For WWE Hall Of Fame

Former WWE Tag Team Champion Brutus ‘The Barber’ Beefcake has been confirmed as the final entrant into the 2019 Hall of Fame.

Beefcake’s name had been doing the rounds for several weeks, with various sites reporting that he and Hulk Hogan would be involved in WrestleMania 35 this coming Sunday in some capacity. The news of his induction was confirmed via Sports Illustrated and then by WWE shortly afterwards.

Beefcake spent almost a decade with WWE between 1984 and 1993, peaking in 1989 when he headlined SummerSlam ’89 alongside best friend Hulk Hogan against Randy Savage and Zeus. He also had memorable feuds with Mr. Perfect, Ron Bass, The Honky Tonk Man and Ted DiBiase and captured championship gold alongside Greg Valentine as the Dream Team.

Beefcake looked set for a push towards the Intercontinental Title in 1990 until a parasailing accident that crushed his facial skeleton put him on the shelf for over two years and took over 100 metal plates to fix. Bruti returned in 1993 alongside Hogan but departed the promotion shortly afterwards.

Brutus also had a spell with WCW, a run defined by ridiculous gimmicks including The Butcher, Zodiac, The Booty Man and The Disciple. He even headlined Starrcade as the former, losing to Hogan.

For his WWE run alone and based on the criteria for entering WWE’s reflective showpiece, Beefcake is worthy of inclusion. He was extremely popular in the late 1980s on his own merits, not in the shadow of Hogan, and his contributions deserve to be rewarded.
