On tonight’s AEW Dynamite it was revealed that an upcoming Bryan Danielson match has been canceled, however a new match was made instead.
UPDATE: Later in the show, Nigel McGuinness challenged Bryan Danielson to a match at AEW Grand Slam, so it appears Danielson will still wrestle on the show rather than being pulled completely.
Jon Moxley and Darby Allin finally came face-to-face in the ring after Moxley had repeatedly called out Allin in recent weeks.
Moxley stated that because of his attack on Bryan Danielson at AEW All Out, Danielson won’t be able to put his AEW World Championship on the line against Allin at Grand Slam on September 25 as planned.
Allin had earned that title shot as a result of winning the Royal Rampage match.
Moxley then demanded that Allin simply hand over his title shot to Moxley, so that Moxley would be able to challenge Danielson in the future.
Moxley told Allin that Allin “isn’t ready” to be world champion – he wasn’t five years ago, and he still isn’t now.
However, Allin declined to simply hand over his shot, and told Moxley he’d have to earn it.
Now, instead of Allin vs Danielson for the title, it’ll be Allin vs Moxley at Grand Slam, with Allin’s future title shot on the line.
