AEW star Bryan Danielson has revealed which of the promotion’s young stars reminds him of a young version of himself.
Danielson has been doing media in the lead-up to his dream match against Kenny Omega tonight, including an appearance on WFAN Sports Radio in New York.
During the appearance, Bryan Danielson singled out youngsters Dante Martin and Daniel Garcia as people he’s been impressed with so far, saying:
“I feel like I’ve seen every move that there’s ever been, until I saw Dante Martin and he did something I’d never seen before, and I was like, ‘Oh my God he’s only 20 years old!’.
“And then on the flip side, Daniel Garcia, as opposed to doing the high-flying stuff, is a very technical-based wrestler, and I was like, ‘Ooh, that reminds me of myself when I was his age’.
“One of the things with mentorship I feel like, is the personalities have to bond together, and it doesn’t matter if the styles of wrestling are the same.”

Coming from a worker as respected and skilled as Danielson, that kind of praise has to go a long way, and Garcia himself did retweet the clip.
Tonight’s match against Omega for Danielson is non-title due to the AEW rankings system meaning the promotion rarely gives World Title matches to people who don’t have impressive win/loss records.
