Bryan Danielson Returns To AEW For Match Against Nigel McGuinness AEW

On tonight’s AEW Dynamite ‘Grand Slam’, Nigel McGuinness was patiently waiting along with fans to find out if Bryan Danielson would show.

After having issued a challenge amid uncertainty of whether or not Danielson was cleared to compete, there was continued confusion as the show kicked off.

With Nigel McGuinness waiting for the AEW World Champion, Bryan Danielson’s AEW theme music played, but Danielson didn’t come out.

After McGuinness tried to claim a win via forfeit, he was then greeted by the sound of Europe’s The Final Countdown as Danielson was indeed back in action.

McGuinness and Danielson’s rivalry goes back nearly two decades, last having stepped in the ring together 18 years ago.

The pair had competitive and physical match tonight that ended in a submission hold from Bryan Danielson leading to McGuinness tapping out.

McGuinness said “thank you” before he tapped.

As Danielson was celebrating, Christian Cage came out and threatened to activate his contract for an AEW World Championship match against Danielson, which he won at All In London in the Casino Gauntlet match.

However, before Cage could put pen to paper, Kip Sabian snuck up behind him and stole his pen, so Cage wasn’t able to cash-in.

When Cage went behind the curtain to chase Sabian, he was met by the stern faces of Claudio Castagnoli and Pac.
