Bryan Danielson Has Sights On AEW World Championship AEW

Could Bryan Danielson be headed for the AEW World Championship now that the fall out from All Out has shaken up creative plans for the title?

Bryan Danielson spoke to Sports Illustrated about amongst other things, his invigorated hunt for the AEW World Championship now that plans have shifted.

Perhaps counterintuitively, Danielson says that for him, the Championship is not actually about being ‘the top guy,’ saying;

“For me, it’s not about being the top guy. I don’t care about that. And it’s not about leading the locker room. You can be a leader without the title.

“I like the feeling of big championship matches. Championship matches are my favorite kind of matches to wrestle. It’s a different feeling from anything else.”

Going on to discuss his AEW World Championship goals, Bryan Danielson said:

“I want to be world champion, because being in championship matches is unlike anything else. Those matches, they’ve got a different tension.

“I love the feeling of a big title match. Those are the feelings and emotions I’m chasing.”

Of his main event match on AEW Dynamite to progress to the AEW World Championship title opportunity against Chris Jericho, Danielson said:

“This match is going to be completely different. It’s two guys who want to be AEW champion, and will do anything to get it.”

On tonight’s edition of AEW Dynamite, All Elite Wrestling’s PNW debut was announced for the first AEW Dynamite of the year, January 4, 2023 in Seattle.

Notable for the date overlapping with the kick-off of Wrestle Kingdom, would Darby Allin, Swerve Strickland or Bryan Danielson miss a Seattle homecoming to participate in NJPW’s Wrestle Kingdom?

We’ll have to stay tuned to find out!
