Bryan Danielson Explains Why He Wants To Wait On NJPW Run AEW

Bryan Danielson has discussed the possibility of another NJPW run, noting that he’d want to perform in front of a crowd that can cheer.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, returning Japanese crowds were instructed to clap and stomp their feet instead of cheering and shouting, to limit the spread of the virus.

During his interview on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bryan recalled wrestling in the WWE Performance Center and ThunderDome without crowds during the early months of the pandemic.

Discussing his ideal situation for a NJPW return, Danielson said:

“I really do want to do New Japan, but I also kind of don’t want to do it until fans can cheer. From what I want out of wrestling, just doing it with the clapping, I’d still have fun. I’m one of the few people who enjoyed wrestling in the Performance Center with nobody.

“I enjoyed wrestling in the Thunder Dome. I tend to find myself enjoying wrestling in any atmosphere it is. From what I want in my experience in New Japan. I would want people to be able to cheer. Hopefully, nothing happens where things get set back again or anything like that, not just because of my pro wrestling, but because of worldwide health. I would really want to wait for that. Somebody brought up to me this idea of me, (Jon) Moxley, and two other people.”

Danielson previously worked for NJPW in 2004 as the American Dragon.

On Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite, Danielson teamed with Jon Moxley for the first time in AEW to defeat The Workhorsemen, with William Regal in their corner. William Regal has since apologised for ‘time issues’ with his post-match promo, which you can read more about right here.
