WWE’s Rhea Ripley Shares Buddy Matthews AEW Injury Update

WWE’s Rhea Ripley Shares Buddy Matthews AEW Injury Update AEW/Rhea Ripley

WWE star Rhea Ripley has shared an update on Buddy Matthews after he was seemingly injured at AEW Grand Slam Australia.

During his entrance for his match against AEW Continental Champion Kazuchika Okada, Matthews rolled his ankle when jumping into the ring.

While he was able to wrestle for 13 minutes, fans grew concerned for Matthews when he was spotted limping after the bout.

Following Matthews describing his ankle as ‘destroyed’ in a now-deleted tweet, Rhea Ripley has provided an update on Matthews condition and whereabouts.

Ripley took to Twitter to share several photos on Instagram of Matthews, including one where he was using a crutch for support.

This was the only photo of Matthews using a crutch however, with Ripley sharing several more photos of Matthews standing freely and not using any ankle support.

While the nature of Matthews’ injury isn’t confirmed, Matthews being photographed without the crutch appears to be a good sign.

Noting that she and Matthews are enjoying their honeymoon, Ripley captioned her post:

“Ain’t no Roly-Poly ankles gonna keep us down! Let the honeymoon commence!”

It is unclear when Rhea Ripley and Buddy Matthews will return to their respective companies following their honeymoon.

The WWE and AEW stars tied the knot in June 2024.

Rhea Ripley is currently the WWE Women’s World Champion, defeating Liv Morgan for the gold on the January 6 Raw on Netflix premiere.

A WWE Hall of Famer recently teased a match against Ripley, which you can read more about right here.

We will continue to provide updates on Buddy Matthews as they become available.
