Today is the day that several released WWE stars, including Buddy Murphy (now Matthews) and Ruby Soho (Riott) become free agents.
Both Matthews and Soho had previously confirmed they were under standard 90-day non-compete clauses, which expire today, August 31.
The other names who were released the same day as Matthews and Soho were Malakai Black, Lana, Braun Strowman and Santana Garrett.
Black debuted in AEW on July 7 because WWE had accidentally not updated his contract, so he only had a 30-day non-compete instead of 90.
It appears that, although she never really appeared on the main roster besides the Royal Rumble, Garrett was also under a 90-day non-compete that would expire today, because on August 12, she tweeted that she was “almost” a free agent.
Neither Lana nor Strowman have made an official announcement but it seems a certainty that they’d have been under the standard 90-day clauses too.
