Cain Velasquez will be challenging Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship at Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia on October 31.
The match will be Cain’s first in a WWE ring. However, it won’t be his last as WWE has confirmed that the former UFC Heavyweight Champion has signed a multi-year deal with the promotion.
Cain took to Twitter this afternoon to comment on his UFC and MMA retirement, and address the WWE Universe following the news of his signing.
@ufc @WWE Thank you. Muchas gracias. #WWECrownJewel pic.twitter.com/k8axrZMRnW

What is interesting is that in his statement, Cain says that “the contract is signed and I’m on my way to the next goal which is Universal Champion”.
This is interesting as his opponent and current rival Brock Lesnar is not the Universal Champion, but actually the WWE Champion.
While Cain likely just got the name of the championship wrong in his statement, could he have potentially spoiled plans for a feud between him and Seth Rollins after the match with Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel?
