Candice LeRae Thinks She’s ‘Too Old’ For WWE NXT Return WWE

Former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion Candice LeRae has commented on the possibility of a WWE return.

LeRae left WWE in May, after her contract expired. Her husband, Johnny Gargano parted ways with WWE in December when his deal was up.

There has been some speculation that Gargano and LeRae could return to WWE, especially after Gargano recently revealed he still has WWE related goals on his bucket list.

Speaking during a Highspots Superstore ‘Sign it Live, LeRae briefly addressed speculation surrounding an NXT return noting:

“I’m too old for that anyway.”

WWE has been focusing on recruiting ‘bigger and younger’ athletes rather than independent wrestlers since the developmental brand’s reboot in September 2021. Around the time of the reboot, a directive was introduced to recommend the hiring women 25 years old or younger.

LeRae, who is 36 years old and made a name for herself on the independent scene before joining WWE, last wrestled at NXT Great American Bash 2021. She gave birth to her son Quill in February.
