NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes is known for his brash personality on screen, but he showed some of that on Twitter today.
On last Tuesday’s NXT Vengeance Day, Hayes defended his title against Cameron Grimes. During the match, he posed and signalled an “A” referring to his “A-Champion” moniker.
Twitter user Melo Section tweeted the moment today and AEW star “Platinum” Max Caster responded.

Caster replied to imply the pose looked eerily similar to his Acclaimed pose with Anthony Bowens:
“Everyone loves the Acclaimed “
Carmelo quickly retweeted this response and replied:
“Damn I didn’t know this was your thing, I don’t watch the YouTube show ♂️”
Caster replied with:
“You’re being racist”
This exchange seems like it’s all in good fun. Hayes spent time on the East coast independent scene with both members of The Acclaimed.
Carmelo Hayes is the current NXT North American Champion, while The Acclaimed are currently ranked #1 in the AEW tag team division.
