Two-time NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes has now won the top title on the brand, becoming NXT Champion at Stand & Deliver.
Hayes defeated Bron Breakker who was in his second reign with the title which started on the Raw after WrestleMania a year ago.
At one point towards the end of the match the ref was knocked down and Hayes tapped out to the Steiner Recliner, but obviously the ref didn’t see it so couldn’t call for the finish.
With the ref still down, Trick Williams who was in Hayes’ corner as usual knocked Breakker out with the championship belt, but Hayes only got a nearfall from that as the ref was still recovering and slow to count.
Hayes then countered out of Breakker’s military press powerslam before landing the Nothin’ But Net leg drop to pin Breakker and win the title.
After the match, Breakker respectfully handed over the belt to Hayes.
There’s been plenty of speculation Breakker could be heading to the WWE main roster after this weekend, so this is gonna add more fuel that fire.
Three titles changed hands at Stand & Deliver, the others being the NXT Women’s Championship won by Indi Hartwell, and the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship won by Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn.
