Whilst discussing a potential Total Divas reboot, WWE’s Cathy Kelley revealed Joe Tessitore attempted to get her on ABC’s long-running reality show The Bachelorette.
The topic of WWE potentially re-introducing its hit E! Network reality TV series Total Divas is something that has been brought up several times over the past year.
Back in November, former WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion Maxxine Dupri expressed her hope that the show would return, seven years on from its last season in 2019.
Then, more recently, original Total Divas cast members Nikki & Brie Bella admitted that their answer “might be a yes” if they were asked to take part in a potential reboot of the show.
Along with the likes of Bianca Belair, Chelsea Green and Tiffany Stratton, Dupri said it would be “amazing” for a new era of Total Divas to feature WWE’s backstage interviewer duo of Jackie Redmond and Cathy Kelley.
Kelley, who was around in WWE during Total Divas’ latter years in the late 2010s but not a featured cast member, was asked about Dupri’s comments during an appearance on Insight with Chris Van Vliet.
Agreeing that now is the best time for Total Divas to come back given the mixture of the show’s OG cast and new stars currently available on the WWE roster, Kelley said:
“I feel like now is probably the best time to bring it back, because not only do you have some of the OGs there, but more and more people, I think, are hungry for that kind of content. They want to see what it’s like behind the scenes and see what our lives are really like.”
On the topic of reality TV shows, Kelley also revealed that her SmackDown broadcast colleague Joe Tessitore attempted to get her onto ABC’s The Bachelorette, but ultimately it “didn’t lead to anything.”
Kelley continued:
“In the vein of reality shows, Joe Tess actually tried to nominate me to be the bachelorette recently.
“He’s friends with people at ABC, the producers of the show, because he worked on a similar show on ABC, and then he’s also friends with Jesse, the host, so I think there was a text exchange of sending in my information, which didn’t lead to anything.”
Circling back to Total Divas, Kelley said she would “consider” being a part of the show, but it would depend on just how much of her private life would be broadcasted to the masses:
“Again, it would be something that I would consider. Because I feel like even though I do share a lot of my life, I do keep a lot of it private as well.
“With any reality show, you don’t always get to dictate, unless you become an executive producer on it, you don’t always get to dictate what’s shared and what’s not.”
