WWE Offered Celebrity ‘Permanent Role As Wrestler’

A notable celebrity, who made several appearances for WWE in 2024, was reportedly offered a “permanent role as a wrestler” in the company.

After breaking out in 2023 with her mixtape ‘Hood Hottest Princess’ St. Louis rapper Sexyy Red caught the attention of WWE, bringing her in for several appearances on WWE NXT in 2024 – including a hosting role at NXT Battleground last July.

Red has thus far only appeared in a non-physical role in WWE, however, according to Dazed Digital the company may have initially had her earmarked as a potential in-ring competitor.

According to a new feature piece on Red, she was offered a “permanent role as a wrestler” but was forced to turn it down due to a lack of time to train properly:

One thing Sexyy particularly enjoyed was making a cameo appearance with legendary wrestler Shawn Michaels for the WWE last year. She actually got offered a permanent role as a wrestler in WWE, but couldn’t find the time to train properly so settled for a cameo instead.

Regardless of what the future holds, she says the wrestling world is a good analogy for how to handle the myriad pressures that come with being a popular recording artist.

Red herself then addressed her WWE appearances, making parallels between wrestling and rapping:

“Rapping and wrestling are pretty much the same, it’s not quite acting, but it’s kind of acting too, right?

“Because when we go home and take off all our jewels and gold and remove the costumes we wear, we then have to go right back to reality with our families.”

It’s unclear if or when we’ll see Red back on WWE TV at this, but we will provide updates regarding future appearances when they’re available.
