In a Royal Rumble match that saw celebrity entrants like Bad Bunny and Johnny Knoxville, one major WWE veteran was notably missing: Cesaro.
Cesaro has addressed being omitted from the 30 man match in speaking to SI.com, when asked specifically if he was disappointed, he responded honestly saying:
“Yes, I was. A lot of people would have liked to see me in the Rumble, and a lot of people would have liked to see me win. That would have put me on the next path of my journey. I saw Big E say in an interview he’d like to see me win, and that was very nice. I appreciate the support of my colleagues, but unfortunately, that did not happen.”
In discussing his work, Cesaro is quick to point out that despite the temporary disappointment, he is still able to do what he loves and remains very passionate about wrestling and his career, saying:
“I’m doing what I love to do. I love wrestling and I love wrestling in front of people, and I hope that translates.
“It’s an unrelenting pursuit of excellence, that’s the only thing that I can control. I don’t get a lot of mike time or interview time, but every time I step through the curtain and get in that ring, you will get that super high standard I set for myself. I will accept nothing less in the ring.”
Cesaro is currently drafted to the SmackDown brand where he recently tagged with Ricochet to take on former partner Sheamus and Ridge Holland.
