Cesaro On What Disappointed Him About Roman Reigns Feud

Cesaro has opened up about his rivalry with Roman Reigns earlier this year, revealing which aspect of the rivalry he was disappointed by.

At WrestleMania Backlash in May, Cesaro challenged The Tribal Chief for the Universal Championship. This bout marked the second to last time the Universal Title was defended at a pay-per-view in the ThunderDome.

With fans officially returning for Money in the Bank in July, Cesaro just missed out on his title challenge being in front of a packed crowd. Speaking on Out of Character with Ryan Satin, the SmackDown star admitted that he was disappointed about the lack of fans, noting:

“Do you know what I was disappointed about? I wish it would have been in front of fans. That’s like the one thing was I was like, that match, the build-up, everything. I wish it would have been in front of fans.”

“I feel like that whole build-up from the first match with Bryan to essentially WrestleMania, it was like, I was able to somehow create that momentum. I did the Talking Smack promo and that carried the Roman match. I felt like that in front of a crowd. You know what it would have been great. But you know, things happen. Do you know what I mean? So we made the best of it. Hopefully, we can run it back one day.”

On Monday’s edition of Raw, Reigns & The Usos defeated The New Day in six-man tag team action, before The Tribal Chief bested Bobby Lashey and WWE Champion Big E in a three-way bout.

Reigns will defend his Universal Title against ‘Demon’ Finn Balor at Extreme Rules on Sunday, before his clash with Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel in October.
