Chad Gable Reflects On Shorty G WWE Gimmick WWE

Chad Gable has reflected on his time competing under the Shorty G gimmick in WWE between 2019-2020.

2024 has been a banner year for Chad Gable’s WWE career.

The Minnesota native not only signed a bumper new WWE contract but has found himself competing in some of WWE Raw’s biggest storylines of the year – first in a multi-month feud with Sami Zayn and now with the debuting Wyatt Sicks faction.

While Gable’s direction has improved massively since Triple H took over WWE’s creative, things weren’t always so great for Gable in the company.

Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Gable was asked to reflect upon his time competing as Shorty G between October 2019 to October 2020 – a time he admitted was a “low point” of his WWE career:

“I’ve often said, probably to nobody’s surprise, that was a pretty low point. But I was asking for opportunities on a weekly basis at that point. I was going into offices and being like, ‘Look, I need to work, I need to do anything’, because I really wasn’t doing anything.

“So I was given the Shorty G character/persona. The last thing I’m gonna do, my personality, the last thing I’m gonna do, is scoff at it and not give it whatever I can. Whatever effort I can is gonna go into that, because I asked for it. I asked for anything, an opportunity, and I was given it.

“So I did the most I could with it, and I think what it showed was that I am willing to contribute in whatever manner. If it’s down here, or up here, I’m willing to contribute whatever I can and whatever’s asked of me.

“Once you’ve proven that, that you’re going to do that and you’re not gonna put on a boo-boo face and sit around and sulk around because you’re not happy with it, then, ‘Look at this guy, let’s give him some more. He’s showed us. He’s showed us his grit, he’s showed us that he’s here for the long run’. And I think that worked to my benefit, hopefully.”

Gable missed this week’s Raw due to being in Paris for the 2024 Olympic Games, however, his American Made stablemates Julius & Brutus Creed would defeat the Alpha Academy in his absence.

A heel turn also took place as Ivy Nile turned on Maxxine Dupri – officially aligning with American Made in the process.
