Perhaps the biggest surprise to come out of NXT’s Tuesday debut was the shock NXT Cruiserweight Championship win of Kushida. He answered Santos Escobar’s open challenge for a shot at the title and won, capturing his first title in WWE.
Now, it has been announced that this week’s episode of NXT will feature Kushida’s championship celebration. Here is the official preview of the segment from WWE.com:
“After the biggest win of Kushida’s NXT career, it’s time to celebrate.
The new NXT Cruiserweight Champion will be in the house for a Championship Celebration this Tuesday night at 8/7 C on USA Network.
NXT’s resident Time Splitter stunned Santos Escobar and the black-and-gold brand last week when he defeated The Emperor of Lucha Libre to claim the title. The victory caps a grueling two-year journey in NXT to championship gold.”
Kushida has been in NXT since signing in early 2019. During that time he has come close to capturing various titles, including the NXT North American Championship. However, until now he had never successfully won a championship in WWE.
Santos Escobar had just unified the Cruiserweight Championships in a ladder match with Jordan Devlin at NXT Takeover Stand and Deliver.
