On tonight’s (July 6) edition of AEW Dynamite, the TNT championship was on the line as Scorpio Sky squared off with Wardlow.
In big match, back and forth action, the crowd in Rochester, New York (the hometown of arguably the greatest of all TNT Champions, Brodie Lee) was on fire throughout the match.
With continual attempts at distraction from Dan Lambert and Scorpio Sky’s posse, Wardlow still managed to kick out even after Sky smashed Wardlow in the face with the TNT Championship.
Due to the street fight rules, this was entirely acceptable.
After Wardlow had Sky down and primed to begin playing a Powerbomb Symphony, he triumphantly looked above after the first powerbomb. Wardlow went for another and another before getting the pin to become the new TNT Champion.
Elsewhere on the show, Jon Moxley faced Brody King for the Interim AEW World Championship and a new tag-team debuts in ThunderStorm (Thunder Rosa and Toni Storm) taking on the formidable opponents of Nyla Rose and Marina Shafir.
