During the July 10, 2020 edition of SmackDown, WWE announced a match for the Intercontinental Championship for the Extreme Rules go home edition of SmackDown.
AJ Styles will be facing Matt Riddle. Styles was informed of the match during a backstage interview. He had been bragging about beating Daniel Bryan’s Coach Drew Gulak last week.
He said no one deserves a title shot. Sarah Schrieber informed him of the match. AJ asked what Riddle had done.
She reminded him that Riddle beat him a couple of weeks ago. AJ very humorously got upset and lumped Gulak, Riddle, and Bryan all in one big group.

It sure feels like they want us to think Catch Point could be a thing in WWE, but let’s not get our hopes up.
One thing we can hope for is AJ Styles and Matt Riddle putting on a great show next week. Riddle and Styles had a good match for Riddle’s debut.
However, there was a lot left on the table. This could be a fantastic wrestling match if they are given the time and opportunity. Could we see Riddle win his first singles title? Or will AJ find a way to sneak out while retaining the title.
Make sure to follow along with our live results next week to find out.
