Championship Match Announced For WWE Crown Jewel Kickoff

WWE Crown Jewel is now under 24 hours away, and one final match has just been added to the card.

The Kickoff show, which will start at 11am ET/3pm GMT, will play host to a WWE United States Championship match between champion Shinsuke Nakamura and challenger Rusev.

Rusev had been embroiled in a feud with Aiden English in recent weeks, that ironically took a massive turn when Aiden cost the Bulgarian a US Title match.

Aiden went on to try and trick the world into thinking Lana was a bad wife to Rusev, but ended up making himself look like a bit of a mug in the process. At SmackDown 1000, English interfered in Rusev’s World Cup qualifier, again costing him the match and a spot in the tournament.

A week later, the pair went one-on-one, and Rusev was victorious in convincing fashion.

Nakamura, on the other hand, hasn’t really done anything recently. He was a minor part of the feud between Jeff Hardy and Randy Orton, but has found himself lacking any credible threats to his title.

The Japanese star was set to defend against Tye Dillinger this past Tuesday on SmackDown, but due to a hand injury suffered by the latter, ended up defeating R-Truth in non-title action.

Shinsuke has held the title since Backlash, when he defeated Jeff Hardy, reigning for 109 days and counting. Rusev is a two-time United States Champion, and the US Title is the only gold he has held during his time in WWE.
