During the WWE Main Event tapings that took place before Monday’s episode of WWE Raw, Austin Theory wrestled Apollo Crews in singles action. This match was completely cut from this week’s WWE Main Event broadcast. The time was instead filled by replays from Raw and SmackDown.
While it wasn’t necessarily guaranteed that WWE was planning to air the bout in first place, if the match wasn’t meant for the broadcast, it would’ve meant that WWE only planned to feature the short Veer vs Storm Grayson squash match on the show, instead of the usual two matches.
As of writing, no official reason for this match being pulled has been disclosed, but it has been pointed out that a change in WrestleMania 38 plans made after the taping was the reason why the bout didn’t make the broadcast.
On SmackDown, Austin Theory revealed that he will face Pat McAfee at WrestleMania 38. Plans appeared to have changed, with previous reports noting that Vince McMahon vs Pat McAfee was internally listed for the event. A report from earlier in the week noted that plans for the bout had seemingly been altered.
Theory was also prominently featured at the recent WWE Madison Square Garden house show, challenging Brock Lesnar for the WWE Championship. You can check out the results from the event right here.
