‘Chaotic’ John Cena World Heavyweight Championship WWE Retirement Match Pitched

A WWE name has pitched a ‘chaotic’ way to crown a new World Heavyweight Champion, involving John Cena’s final match.

A World Heavyweight Championship match for the vacant title is set for this Saturday’s Saturday Night’s Main Event show on November 1, with CM Punk facing off against Jey Uso.

The World Heavyweight Championship was vacated by Seth Rollins on last week’s episode of Raw after Seth Rollins suffered an injury at Crown Jewel, with Jey winning a Battle Royal to earn the shot at Punk on the show.

While it seems as though either CM Punk or Jey Uso will be our next World Heavyweight Champion, WWE personality Sam Roberts has pitched a ‘chaotic’ path to crown the next champion.

Roberts outlined the plan on his Notsam Wrestling Show, which covers both WarGames and John Cena’s retirement match.

He said:

“I said to myself, if that were to be where it would go, because they don’t have to main event with CM Punk and Jey Uso if Cody Rhodes and Drew McIntyre are on the show. So lets say it opens. What if no champion is crowned? What would that look like? I went through the thought exercise where I got to a place where it could actually be exciting. Some people are gonna hate it, I’ll tell you my thought process that’s gonna take us all the way to the end of the year, and some people are gonna hate this, other people are gonna like it, but everyone will agree it’s pretty far outside where you think it’s going, and sometimes I think you need to give an injection.

“What if we get to this match and it opens Saturday Night’s Main Event. We’re watching CM Punk vs Jey Uso and it’s highly competitive, and then Jimmy Uso appears at ringside. Then Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed appear at ringside. LA Knight appears at ringside. All these people, Bronson Reed and Bron Breakker have an issue with this title match happening because they weren’t in the Battle Royal, but at the same time, as much as there is friction between heels, Raw has created a main event scene where the babyfaces don’t get along either, so why not use this tension and bring it all forward.

“You can have Jimmy Uso, LA Knight, The Vision and whoever else, you could throw AJ Styles in there if you want to. You could have this group of people who don’t all get along, interfere at the same time, where there becomes a question who threw the first punch, because someone started the physicality that resulted in this match being thrown out as a no contest. Now you have all these parties bickering so it’s not just a clear rematch because everyone interfered in the match.

“It’s the kind of chaos that doesn’t have a linear path to a match to pay off the grudge. It’s a total loss of control, and that’s important because we see the stress build up in Adam Pearce.

“Adam Pearce makes it known that he is under a great deal of scrutiny and his job is on the line because the board of directors are furious that there is no World Heavyweight Champion on Raw. The board of directors is about to show a vote of no confidence in Adam Pearce because he can’t crown a champion.

“Adam Pearce is sitting there thinking ‘I’ve got to worry about WarGames. I’ve got to figure out a WarGames match and I can’t get anybody to team up’. Adam Pearce then makes an announcement, he says I’m not gonna form these WarGames teams, I’ve got enough on my plate, but here’s what I’m gonna do. I am gonna name a World Heavyweight Champion before the end of the year. You’re gonna create your own WarGames teams. CM Punk and Jey Uso have to create a team, Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed have to form a team.

“What is the motivation for them forming this team? Why would they care about winning this WarGames match. Adam Pearce says we will crown a new World Heavyweight Champion starting immediately after WarGames. We will hold a tournament to determine who the World Heavyweight Champion will be going forward. An eight man tournament, and five of those spots will be guaranteed to the team that wins the WarGames match, meaning the entire team is in the tournament along with 3 superstars that Adam Pearce will announce after WarGames. However, none of those 3 will be the 5 on the other team.

“So now you’ve got these two teams that in reality that are not fighting alongside each other, everyone in this match hates each other. You can’t tell me Jey Uso has more of a problem with Bron Breakker as he does with CM Punk. However, they have to work together and you see these teams figuring out how to strategize. If they want to assemble the best team possible, that’s all well and good, but the people they assemble on that team will be the same people they have to fight right after WarGames in this tournament. However, if they don’t choose the strongest people, their team might lose WarGames and they won’t be in the tournament at all.

“So for this one night, they all have to get along. None of them are thinking on a group level, they’re all thinking on a singular level, but to singularly benefit you have to work as a team.

“Then if we build this super team. If you end up with Roman Reigns on CM Punk and Jey Uso’s team, or Randy Orton over there, Drew McIntyre, who knows. You’re pulling people over from SmackDown. Maybe a babyface joins the heel’s team because he thinks the heels are gonna win.

“You end up looking at this and number one it’s compelling because you know five of these guys won’t be in the tournament at all, and the other 5 will be but only one of them, if it’s even one of them, is gonna make it to the finals of the tournament.

“Adam Pearce holds this tournament in the two weeks of Monday Night Raw following WarGames, and the winner of that tournament will be crowned, but they are not the World Heavyweight Champion, because I don’t trust this roster to leave the tournament alone. I also think the World Heavyweight Champion should earn the championship.

“The winner of this tournament is going to go on to Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13 and is going to fight in the one match that nobody will interrupt. The one match that is too important to WWE; John Cena’s last match.

“The winner of the tournament will face John Cena, and if they beat John Cena they will be the World Heavyweight Champion, and if John Cena beats them, he will fulfil the prophecy that he set at the beginning of this year. He will win the World Championship and he will retire as champion, and that will be directly on the shoulders of the man who loses to John Cena.

“Now you’re watching this tournament and not only is it a World Heavyweight Championship situation, but it’s also the John Cena’s last match stipulation, now I know this is getting nuts, but I want it to be chaotic, I want to end up in a scenario we wouldn’t have ended up in if not for these stipulations.

“In my head, the man who wins the tournament is Los Angeles Knight. LA Knight wins the tournament, which I don’t think anyone will see coming, and now you have LA Knight going, and he has the opportunity to be the man who beats John Cena in his last match and win the World Heavyweight Championship.

“I see this match ending with LA Knight as World Heavyweight Champion. In this scenario, on this specific road, LA Knight, he not only gets chosen, maybe CM Punk wants LA Knight on the team, but Jey Uso doesn’t, and after he wins the tournament maybe Jey harbours resentment to CM Punk for bringing him on the team to begin with.

“On December 13, LA Knight wins the World Heavyweight Championship, John Cena shakes his hand, LA Knight walks off and John Cena is left to give a speech focused on the future of the industry, with the implication being that John Cena just made a move to showcase stars that could be the future of the industry, to put someone on the highest pedestal he could put them on.”
