Charlotte Flair Responds To Criticism Of Missing WWE Show For AAA TripleMania

Charlotte Flair has responded to criticism that she missed a recent WWE house show in Charlotte, NC to be at AAA TripleMania.

Flair had asked WWE for the time off months in advance but she was still advertised for the show. That wasn’t her fault and probably contributed to a lot of people’s criticisms which is pretty unfair on her.

Speaking on Renee Paquette’s Oral Sessions, Charlotte Flair said:

“I actually thought people would be more like, ‘Wow, that’s how much her relationship means to her’. I was actually like, people are like thinking that I’m ruining my career? Part of my career is who I am in my real life. Part of my career is Manny (Andrade El Idolo) helping me and pushing me and supporting me and all these different experiences in my life. That makes me grow as a performer.

“I don’t know if you guys have seen but I’ve grown in front of y’all over the years. So I just – I was really surprised, and like, people aren’t surprised at all (about) my dad. He’s gonna be chopping and Figure-Four’ing anywhere but, just to see – my dad genuinely was like, you can see how proud he was to be out there with Manny. That’s how much Manny means to him and I think my dad also knows Manny’s gonna be the man who takes care of me when he’s gone and it’s like a passing of a torch.”

The very next weekend, Flair was back and won the Raw Women’s Championship for the sixth time at SummerSlam in a three-way against Rhea Ripley and defending champion Nikki ASH.

Her father Ric Flair was released by WWE at the start of this month and has no non-compete clause, hence why he could be at TripleMania and actually appear in Andrade’s corner, even getting physical in the ring with Kenny Omega and Konnan.

It’s been pointed out that there’s a possibility there may be some kind of agreement where he can’t appear for AEW yet even if he doesn’t have a standard non-compete, but he is very much expected to join the promotion at some point.
