Charlotte Flair Dropping Women’s Title Removed From WWE SmackDown Replay

WWE edited Charlotte Flair dropping the Raw Women’s Title out of the ‘encore presentation’ SmackDown replay that aired on FOX on Saturday, October 23.

During the segment that originally aired on October 22, Flair dropped the Raw Women’s Championship onto the ring canvas while Becky Lynch was reaching for it. Lynch then threw the SmackDown Women’s Title at Flair.

WrestlingNews.Co has shared the version of the segment which aired during the Saturday replay on Twitter, which just showed Flair handing the gold to Sonya Deville:

Fightful Select (subscription required) reported that the original script for the segment had Lynch grabbing the Raw Women’s Championship from Flair, bragging about being ‘Becky 2 Belts’ before Deville would make Lynch surrender the SmackDown Women’s Title.

In the ‘heated confrontation’ that arose backstage between Lynch and Flair following the segment, Flair reportedly claimed that her dropping the title was an accident.

PWInsider reported that Flair had voiced concerns about the title exchange segment making her title reign look weak, prior to SmackDown. In an update, it was noted that there was heat on Flair after the confrontation, but not on Lynch, who many believed was just standing her ground.

The SmackDown replay aired on FOX at 8pm ET on Saturday, the same start time as AEW Dynamite.
