A new report has indicated that the WWE SmackDown team isn’t thrilled about trading Becky Lynch for Charlotte Flair in the draft.
SmackDown Women’s Champion Lynch and Raw Women’s Champion Flair will officially be switching brands as of this coming Friday (October 22), something that reportedly hasn’t gone down well backstage on the SmackDown side of things.
Ringside News, which has had several WWE backstage reports confirmed by the likes of Fightful and Dave Meltzer in recent times, is reporting that the Flair/Lynch switch was a big topic of discussion this week.
The quote provided regarding the topic of the conversation, parentheses included, was: “How Raw gets Becky (who everyone likes) and SmackDown gets Charlotte (who is not popular behind the scenes)”.
Despite this reaction from those backstage, FOX is said to have pushed hard to get Flair on the brand, and has actually wanted her ever since 2019.
Charlotte Flair retained the Raw Women’s Championship against Bianca Belair last night by getting herself disqualified, so it’ll be interesting to see how WWE handles the title situation with the change in brands.
Lynch defends the SmackDown Women’s Title against Belair and Sasha Banks at Crown Jewel on Thursday.
