Charlotte Flair has discussed having “more fun” this past year after a “tense” build to WWE WrestleMania 41.

This time last year, Tiffany Stratton was gearing up to defend her WWE Women’s Championship against Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 41 in Las Vegas, a match that saw one of the most personal builds to a big women’s title match in recent memory.

With both stars going “off script” in promo exchanges, and personal subjects such as Stratton’s relationship with then-boyfriend Ludwig Kaiser, and Charlotte’s divorce from Andrade El Idolo being brought up, “tense” was certainly a word to describe the two stars’ rivalry.

Now, one year later, Flair is not involved in a world title match at WrestleMania for the first time in her career, with “The Queen” and her tag team partner Alexa Bliss taking on The Irresistible Forces (Lash Legend & Nia Jax), The Bella Twins and Bayley & Lyra Valkyria in a four-way for the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles.

Discussing her WrestleMania 42 match with Jeremy Jacobowitz, Flair said that it feels “very special” to compete for the Women’s Tag Team Championships:

“This will be my ninth WrestleMania. I have wrestled for almost every other title there is.

“Something feels very special about competing for the Tag Team Women’s Championship with my tag partner, allies of convenience, Lexi (Alexa Bliss). I’m ready we’re Night One and I can’t wait.”

Flair then commented on the contrast between the “tense” build to WrestleMania 41 and 42 with the 14-time saying this year has been one of her favorites:

“It was a little tense (the build to WrestleMania 41).

“It’s probably been one of my favorite years. From the in-ring moments with Lexi, to the styles and gears, to life in general.

“I’ve had more fun, a lot of growth, and I’m looking forward to seeing what 2026 brings.”

A Welcome Break From The Main Event World Title Picture For Charlotte Flair

It seemed inconceivable how WWE were going to turn Charlotte Flair babyface again considering just how much negativity there was surrounding “The Queen” this time last year.

Her tag team with Alexa Bliss has proven to a very simple answer however, with Flair and Bliss proving to have great on-screen chemistry as a duo, making for a team that have been easy for fans to rally behind.

Flair could turn heel on Bliss after or at WrestleMania 42, but that would feel like a waste of the positive sentiment surrounding the 14-time world champion, and there’s still a lot of possibilities for her as a babyface.

While Flair returning to the world title picture feels inevitable, the longer she’s involved in other things, the more fans will be on board with that when it eventually comes.
