Charlotte Flair defeated Rhea Ripley in what was many people’s match of the weekend at WrestleMania 36, and in doing so won the NXT Women’s Championship.
As a result of NXT TakeOver: Tampa being cancelled, a number of the show’s matches were instead held on last night’s episode of NXT, including a ladder match to determine the number one contender for Charlotte’s newly won title.
The 6-woman ladder match was won by Io Shirai, and she now has a guaranteed title shot at Flair at some point in the future.
It will be interesting to see whether or not Flair defends her title on NXT shows or on main roster shows. As one of the company’s biggest stars, you could very easily see WWE putting her title matches on main roster shows.
