Top AEW Star Comments On Potential WWE Crossover WWE/AEW

Former WWE and current AEW star Chris Jericho has commented on the possibility of a crossover event involving the two companies.

Jericho left WWE in 2017, before having a multi-year stint in New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

He later joined AEW in 2019 before becoming the promotion’s inaugural World Champion.

Speaking with Howie Mandel, Jericho discussed the possibility of a crossover between WWE and AEW.

Unsure whether such a crossover will ever happen, Jericho said:

“So WWE for years had the monopoly on the sport. And so my boss is Tony Khan, he was always a lifelong wrestling fanatic, and decided to start his own company.

“It’s always great to have competition. So I mean obviously we’re competition just by proxy — the fact that we’re in wrestling.

“But we really don’t look at it that way. They do what they do and we do what we do, and both our very successful.

“[A crossover is] always kind of a wrestling fan’s dream. It’d be like DC versus Marvel, it’s probably not going to happen.

“Now within our own little universes, we have crossovers with other companies in other countries, but WWE and AEW — no crossover.”

AEW has already had some success with a crossover events, with AEW x NJPW: Forbidden Door taking place earlier this year.

The forbidden door to WWE appears to be slightly ajar.

Shinsuke Nakamura set to compete for Pro Wrestling NOAH in January, and Raw star Karl Anderson currently holding the NJPW NEVER Openweight Championship.
