Last night the TV ratings for this week’s Wednesday Night War were published, and for the first time since AEW debuted on October 2, NXT managed to pull in more viewers.
NXT averaged 916,000 viewers over the two hour show, while AEW managed 893,000, a very solid number considering the political broadcasts taking place across America that evening.
While the numbers on paper seem to show that NXT is now winning the race, you have to remember that this show was inundated with main roster stars, something WWE advertised heavily throughout the week.
Hopefully this doesn’t make Vince McMahon feel as though he needs to pack every NXT show with main roster stars going forward.
Anyway, following the news, both AEW Vice President Cody and AEW Champion Chris Jericho commented on Twitter.
Take it on the chin, learn from it, get up off the mat and get to work.
Excuses are for assholes.

Jericho also made the same point as I did above, reminding everyone that this wasn’t a normal episode of NXT due to the main roster invasion.
But Last night wasn’t a true NXT show, now was it shmoopy? https://t.co/QOdXI9p7Sr

A win is a win for NXT, and no-one is going to deny them that, but once Survivor Series and Thanksgiving week is done and forgotten, it will be fascinating to see who has the upper hand.
