Chris Jericho Pitched The Dinner Debonaire As A Dream Sequence

One of the most divisive segments in recent memory was AEW’s Dinner Debonaire segment. Chris Jericho and MJF did a musical song and dance number rather than discuss MJF joining the Inner Circle. Some fans did not like it but little did they know the segment was almost more strange.

Tony Khan revealed on AEW Unrestricted that Chris Jericho pitched the segment as a dream sequence. Obviously, this did not happen. The segment instead went ahead as we saw. Here is the quote, courtesy of Fightful:

“Chris comes up a lot of ideas and I think almost every idea Chris has is great and that idea, I thought, was great. I still think that idea to get buzz on this match and build a story and brought in a ton of attention, and the follow up with Town Hall, which was more of a conventional wrestling segment, did incredibly well. What you see, a lot of it, was Chris’ own ideas. He has ideas for other people as well, he is a phenomenal wrestling genius. He came in and pitched — the one thing that I took exception was, he pitched a dream sequence and it would be a dream sequence where they would start singing. I was like, ‘No, we’re not doing that.’ I do love that idea of them singing.”

Jericho and MJF will compete one-on-one this Saturday at Full Gear. If MJF defeats Jericho, he will join the Inner Circle.
