Chris Jericho made his return to New Japan Pro Wrestling at Power Struggle and challenged Hiroshi Tanahashi to a match at Wrestle Kingdom 14. Their match will take place on the January 5th event.
Tanahashi had just teamed with Kota Ibushi to defeat YOSHI-HASHI and Kazuchika Okada. Following the match, Jericho appeared on the screen. He was shown attacking fans who were rocking out to Tanahashi’s music. After the fans were slain, he issued his challenge.
He promised this would be Tanahashi’s last match. That may be a stretch but this was of course set up by an altercation between the two at Dominion earlier this year. Chris Jericho had just lost to Kazuchika Okada and he attacked both Okada and Tanahashi after the match.
This is Jericho’s first appearance for New Japan since the event in June. Jericho is of course the reigning and inaugural AEW World Champion and is scheduled to defend his title against Cody at Full Gear.
