Chris Jericho has commented on rumours that he spoke to WWE prior to making his AEW return on AEW Dynamite in Winnipeg.
On the April 1 episode of AEW Dynamite in Winnipeg, Chris Jericho made his return to AEW television for the first time in almost a year in his hometown.
Jericho’s return came after a near year-long absence from AEW television, with it being reported that Jericho’s contract with AEW had expired at the end of 2025.
Chris Jericho ‘Likes The Intrigue’ Of Rumours Surrounding AEW Return
There were many reports at the time that Jericho was set to leave AEW and potentially make a return to WWE in time for WrestleMania 42, which ultimately didn’t end up happening.
Speaking on Ringer Wrestling, Jericho was asked about whether he spoke to WWE prior to his AEW return.
Jericho addressed the reports, but ultimately decided to ‘leave that for another day’.
He said:
“The interesting thing about fans and having a career where you can watch anything online, is that fans in this day and age form their own opinions, and it becomes law because the opinions spread.
“Whatever people believed or didn’t believe, I wasn’t ever a part of any of it. I think the best part was there was so much speculation of what is he going to do, that either way, with the tribalism of wrestling nowadays, there would be people happy about it and not happy about. ‘This is the worst thing ever’ and ‘this is the best thing ever’.
“The rumours became facts to the fans. I’ll leave that for another day, I like the idea of the intrigue…”

Will Chris Jericho Return To WWE?
With Jericho reportedly re-signing with AEW following his return in Winnipeg, it seems likely now that AEW is where Jericho’s in-ring career will come to an end when the time comes.
Jericho has noted that he believes he still has a number of years of his career left, with WWE reportedly looking to bring him in for a retirement run as we have seen more veteran names be fazed out of WWE programming in recent months.
While it seems more unlikely that Jericho will return to a WWE ring to compete, he will almost certainly return to the company once his career is all said and done for an eventual induction into the Hall of Fame.
