Chris Jericho Trademark Filing Abandoned

Chris Jericho Trademark Filing Abandoned AEW

Amid speculation about his potential AEW departure and a move to WWE, a new update has emerged on a Chris Jericho trademark filing.

Jericho is known to file for more trademarks than any other wrestler, making the most out of as many catchphrases and nicknames as he can.

However, a lot of those filings end up being abandoned before they finally go through, and there has been another recent example of that.

A few days ago in October 2025, Jericho’s trademark filing for ‘The Jericho Vortex’ was ruled as dead and abandoned.

The filing was originally made back in April 2024.

The official notice of abandonment was filed by the USPTO just a few days ago due to “FAILURE TO FILE TIMELY SOU OR EXTENSION REQUEST.”

The notice states:

The application above is abandoned because we did not receive within six months of the Notice of Allowance (NOA) issue date:

    (1) A Statement of Use (SOU); or

    (2) A Request for Extension of Time to File a Statement of Use (Extension Request).

If Chris Jericho wishes to revive the trademark application, he’ll have to file to do so in the next two months.

Jericho has been absent from AEW since April 2025 with expectations still being that he’ll be leaving the company at the end of the year and returning to WWE.

AEW CEO Tony Khan has praised Jericho in interviews recently and said he’s always welcome in AEW.
