Chris Jericho On Why CM Punk Has ‘Mythology’ Surrounding Him

Chris Jericho has now commented on speculation surrounding CM Punk returning to the ring for All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

Since reports first emerged that CM Punk was All Elite, Punk has once again became the talk of the wrestling world. One of Punk’s fiercest rivals, Chris Jericho, wants to see the former WWE Champion compete in an AEW ring.

In an interview with Kenny McIntosh for Inside the Ropes, Jericho theorized that the current hype surrounding Punk is due to the Chicago star’s absence from the ring. When asked whether or not he wants CM Punk to join the promotion, Jericho said:

“Well, I mean, the short answer is, ‘Of course.’ I mean, he’s one of the few guys out there that has has this mythology surrounding him because he hasn’t wrestled so long.

“Take Punk out of the equation. Sting is with us now. Edge is back in WWE. Christian is with us. But you take, other than that, guys who haven’t wrestled for a long time, he’s probably at the top of the list, unless you’re going to throw Steve Austin in there and you know Steve’s not going to come back.

“So, it would create a huge buzz that would add to the already huge buzz that we have, and I think just the fact that 12,000 tickets sold at the United Center without one name even being announced, or one match even being announced, shows just how much anticipation there is for all of these things. So, yeah, we’ll see what happens.”

CM Punk hasn’t wrestled an official bout since the 2014 Royal Rumble match. Wanting to claim the G2S once and for all, NJPW star KENTA has called the former WWE Champion out on social media.
