Major AEW Star Believes A Union Would Both Help And Hinder Wrestling AEW

AEW star Chris Jericho has shared his thoughts on the wrestling union debate, believing that there would be pros and cons to having a wrestling union.

Chris Jericho has wrestled all over the world for numerous promotions. While the star is best known for his stints with WWE and AEW, Jericho has had several notable runs as a free agent, representing himself.

On the ‘Howie Does Stuff’ podcast, Jericho explained to Howie Mandel that there is no body representing workers in the wrestling industry.

Commenting on the current situation, Jericho said:

“There’s no unions for wrestling, which is kind of crazy because we’re on TV. It’s not (the Screen Actors Guild).

“That would be the only way it could ever be unionized, is if SAG stepped in to do it.

“Wrestling started as kind of a carny type of a sport in the 30s. I just think it’s one of those things that has never caught up, for whatever reason.

“A union would be good in some ways, I’m sure, and probably hinder you in other ways, which is why probably they don’t want to get into it.”

Right now, Jericho is signed to AEW. The wrestling veteran currently holds the ROH World Champion and has vowed to defeat every former ROH title holder.

Jericho will defend the gold in fourway action at Full Gear, against Claudio Castagnoli, Sammy Guevara and Bryan Danielson.
