Chris Jericho’s Pitched Idea For SummerSlam Scrapped

Whether he’s rocking out at sea or kicking it in Japan, Chris Jericho is determined to send shock waves through the wrestling landscape. The current NJPW Intercontinental Champion stepped it up with another potential blockbuster idea. However, this time involving the WWE’s ‘Biggest Event of the Summer.’

According to the man himself on his latest episode of Talk is Jericho, he spoke about putting his relationship with both companies to good use and proposing an idea of a cross-promotional match.

“I placed a call to a certain head of a certain wrestling company, let’s just leave it at that. I said what do you think about first-time ever Intercontinental Champion vs Intercontinental Champion, Jericho vs. [Seth] Rollins? New Japan vs. WWE.”

He continued to say that he would attend the go-home episode of Raw. Pitching the idea of running through the crowd to attack Rollins and setting up the match there and then. After sharing the idea and getting a ‘decent response’ the ‘head of a certain wrestling company’ never got back to him on the matter.

Sadly this isn’t the first time that company never got back to Jericho on his pitched ideas. According to Y2J, at this year’s WrestleMania he was supposed to be Shane McMahon’s replacement while the SmackDown Live commissioner was out with diverticulitis.

“Last show, I was supposed to be Shanes replacement. Daniel Bryan and Jericho vs. Kevin Owens and Sami Zayne at WrestleMania. But it didn’t work. He never told me, and this is the same thing.”
