Christian, who suffered a concussion during a match on Raw in 2014, had his first match since being forced to retire due to the injury tonight.
The former World Champion had previously only gotten physical once since the March 24, 2014 bout, which was in December of that year, until tonight’s show.
Off the back of his win over Edge at Backlash last night, Randy Orton opened Raw and declared that he’d ended the redemption story of the ‘Rated-R Superstar’, which is when Edge’s best friend Christian came out.
Orton then challenged Christian to an unsanctioned match later on the show, an offer that would expire once the show was finished.
Later in the show, after contemplating for a while whether he should accept it or not, the ‘Captain Charisma’ agreed to have the match, even going against the advice of Ric Flair.
The match was very short, with Flair coming out and giving Christian a low blow before Orton punted him to end the match. Christian was carried out on a stretcher as Orton sadistically told him he didn’t want to do that to him.
With Edge on the shelf for several months due to suffering a torn tricep, it’s unclear where exactly this will lead, nor is it known whether Christian is actually cleared to have another match, but you’d have to think the segment is building to something pretty monumental.
