It was announced yesterday that D-Generation X, consisting of Triple H, Shawn Michaels, Billy Gunn, Road Dogg, X-Pac and Chyna were the first inductees into the 2019 WWE Hall of Fame.
The inclusion of Chyna naturally brought up a lot of conversation and debate, as WWE had held off on inducting the ‘Ninth Wonder of the World’ due to fears of her controversial past resurfacing.
ProWrestlingSheet caught up with Chyna’s mother Jan LaQue, who said she was “thrilled” at her daughter’s inclusion:
“I am absolutely thrilled. And so is my husband. We have been invited to the ceremony and will be so proud to be there and celebrate this awesome occasion. She certainly earned this, to say the least.”
LaQue had been campaigning for Chyna’s induction this year, and went on to thank WWE for acknowledging Chyna’s standout career:
“I would like to thank the WWE for giving Joanie the recognition she deserves.”
The 2019 WWE Hall of Fame ceremony takes place Saturday, April 6, the night before WrestleMania.
