Ciampa And Gargano Reforming DIY?

Ciampa And Gargano Reforming DIY?

Current NXT World Champion Tommaso Ciampa has opened the door to fan favourite tag team #DIY reforming.

At the end of this weeks NXT show, Ciampa, Velveteen Dream and Lars Sullivan were in the ring waiting for William Regal’s announcement regarding the NXT title match at NXT TakeOver: WarGames. With Sullivan and Dream having their own altercation, Aleister Black made his way down to the ring.

Upon Black’s music hitting Ciampa immediately high-tailed it from the arena, leaving Regal to be grabbed by Black as he screamed “Where is he”, referring to his mystery attacker from August (Black was sidelined before a triple threat match for the title).

With Regal apparently stranded in the ring with an irate Black, Johnny Gargano appeared from no where, delivered a super kick to Aleister Black, took the mic and barked three words, “I’m right here”.

Posting a message to Twitter shortly after this weeks NXT show aired. The champ, who is no stranger to messing with fans on social media released a lengthy statement:

The Statement

“May 2017

Two days before TakeOver Chicago, where DIY would take on AOP in a ladder match for the NXT Tag Team Titles, I suffered a severe ankle sprain.

Within 24 hours the NXT fan base was prepared to replace me, suggesting replacement after replacement to tag with Johnny.

My eyes were suddenly open. The NXT fans are weak and fickle. They are pathetic.

Going into Takeover Chicago, Johnny know better than anyone how I felt in regards to our “fans”. But his eyes were still closed… he was still blind.

That night, after we lost, I looked Johnny in the eyes one last time, and I know… I know he wasn’t ready to see the light.

Johnny was still blinded by the fake admiration of the NXT scum.

I never hated Johnny. I hated what he represented.

After last nights episode of NXT, it is clear, Johnny has finally seen the light.

Johnny Wrestling is dead. But Johnny Gargano has never been more alive.”

This has led to speculation that Gargano and Ciampa – who have had one of the best feuds of 2018 – would put their previous differences aside and reform their DIY tandem.

#DIY formed in 2015 for the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, building a large and loyal fan base before dissolving at TakeOver: Chicago in May 2017. At TakeOver Chicago #DIY competed in and lost a ladder match for the titles. After the match, Ciampa turned on Gargano, attacking him and bringing an end to the team. It is this event that Tommaso references in his post.

With no response from Johnny as of the time of writing, it unfortunately looks like fans will have to wait for next Wednesday for the fallout from both the assault and Ciampa’s statement.
