It was reported in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Smackdown superstar Ali had undergone surgery this week on an undisclosed injury.
It is believed that the surgery took place Birmingham Alabama, where a number of WWE talent have been operated on in the past.
However, with the nature of Ali’s injury unknown, there was no word given on how long the former 205 Live star would be expected to be out of action for.
Ali has taken to Twitter to put to bed the rumours that he had suffered long-term injury that would keep him out of action for a number of months.
Responding to a report that suggested he would be out of action for a prolonged period of time, Ali said that he just had a routine “root canal procedure”. He added that he thinks he’ll “be okay”.
Ummm…I had a root canal procedure on Wednesday. I think I'll be okay. https://t.co/GHxgIVdtel

This is good news, with WWE airing video packages for Ali in recent weeks teasing a character change. In the promos, Ali speaks of his desire to win the WWE Championship, implying that a push could be in his future upon his return to TV.
This comes after Jinder Mahal revealed last week that he underwent surgery for a knee injury suffered during a house show match with the aforementioned Ali.
