For months CM Punk has been teasing getting back in the Octagon in the UFC, with speculation surrounding the upcoming event in Chicago in June as the best suited place for his return almost two years after losing in his debut. Punk took to Twitter today to confirm he will be fighting on June 9th in Chicago, Illinois against a yet-to-be confirmed opponent:
June nine, after I win and lock eyes with my beautiful wife, embrace my coaches and shout out my entire team https://t.co/TmzRWR2kbn

Neither the UFC or Dana White, the UFC President have confirmed this, but it appears to be a formality now. His previous and currently only UFC fight, came in September 2016 against Mickey Gall at UFC 203 in which he lost in 2 minutes and 14 seconds.
Punk left WWE in 2014, walking out the night after that year’s edition of the Royal Rumble and hasn’t been seen on WWE TV since. He has been involved in a legal battle with a WWE doctor stemming from comments made on Colt Cabana’s Art of Wrestling podcast in November of 2014, in which Punk shooted on his time in WWE and gave reasons as to why he walked out.
Recently the current WWE Champion, AJ Styles commented on a potential return to WWE for CM Punk, a man who he hasn’t crossed paths with since their time on the independent circuits during the mid 2000’s. He said
” Money talks but there’s some issues there that I don’t know enough about. A lot of guys [have had issues] and like I said money talks. But some guys have bigger issues than others. Who knows.”
Styles vs Punk seems like a dream match and one that we will likely never see in a WWE ring due to Punk’s contract with UFC and his shattered relationship with WWE. It’s a lot more likely we see Punk appear at the upcoming Bullet Club-funded, All In super-show than he is to appear in a WWE ring while Styles is still active.
