CM Punk Believes Jon Moxley ‘Followed In His Footsteps’

CM Punk Believes Jon Moxley ‘Followed In His Footsteps’ AEW

AEW World Champion CM Punk has shared his thoughts on AEW Interim World Champion Jon Moxley.

On the August 24 edition of Dynamite from Cleveland, CM Punk will face Jon Moxley to determine the AEW Undisputed World Champion.

Punk cut a scathing promo on Moxley ahead of their showdown on last week’s Dynamite.

In a new interview with Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, the AEW star gave his candid thoughts on Moxley.

He said:

“I think Moxley is a guy who followed in my footsteps.  He was a guy that was never really given the ball [in WWE]. When he was, it was taken away from him, time and time again, for other stars. I think he’s got a chip on his shoulder because he thinks the same thing’s happening to him again.  He’s a different dude from the last time I wrestled him, which was almost 10 years ago, and I’m a much different person, too.”

CM Punk defeated Hangman Page to win the AEW World Championship at Double Or Nothing 2022 on May 29. Following the bout, Punk revealed that he suffered a foot injury that kept him out of action for over two months.

Jon Moxley defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi to win the AEW Interim World Title at Forbidden Door on June 26.
