AEW’s CM Punk has now reacted to criticisms about recent NXT 2.0 name changes, specifically discussing the name ‘Bron Breakker’.
On the September 14 NXT 2.0 premiere, Bronson Rechsteiner, son of Rick Steiner, made his in-ring debut for the brand as ‘Bron Breakker’. Since then, a number of fans have been critical about the new name, arguing that Breakker will have to get over in spite of his moniker.
On Twitter, CM Punk replied to a user who reminded fans that “CM Punk” and “Roman Reigns” once sounded weird to us. Sharing his honest opinion of Breakker, Punk tweeted:
“CM Punk is the ultimate stupid name. Bron is awesome and going to be fine. He should be Steiner, but it’s not his fault. Changing my name to ‘Killer Brooks'”
Breakker is reportedly set for a big push in the coming weeks. On Tuesday’s episode, Breakker teamed with NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa to defeat Pete Dunne and Ridge Holland.
CM Punk is scheduled for an interview segment on tonight’s AEW Dynamite Grand Slam show, ahead of his match with Powerhouse Hobbs on Rampage Grand Slam.
