On this day seven years ago, CM Punk walked out of Raw in Cleveland never to return. Aside from appearances on WWE Backstage, he still hasn’t come back. In fact, he is celebrating the anniversary.
He took to Twitter earlier today to wish himself a happy anniversary. While deniability is possible, it is most likely that Punk is talking about his departure from WWE.
🥰happy anniversary to me🥰

CM Punk left WWE on January 27, 2014, when he finally got too frustrated by the company to continue. He has since spoken at length about why he left the company, citing too many instances to list here. The lawsuits that ensued lasted several years with Punk and WWE on opposite sides.
Punk has since made a quasi-return to WWE with his appearances on WWE Backstage in 2019-2020. While he has not made an official return to the company, his appearances on the show were the first time he had appeared on a wrestling show other than Starrcast.
The hope that he one day returns to the ring remains alive amongst many fans but whether he will or not remains to be seen.
